2008 Mazdaspeed NC Concept

The 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon saw the introduction of another Mazdaspeed concept Roadster. This new concept was part of a matching silver lineup from Mazdaspeed that included tuned versions of the Axela, Demio, and RX-8.

This time the concept car was based on the newly introduced retractable hardtop model with the Activematic transmission and paddle shift. This concept featured some new exterior parts that hadn't been seen before. The front bumper has some unique foglight vent bezel pieces attached and a new design front splitter added to the lower part of the bumper. Sideskirts were the factory appearance package parts with a new running-board style piece added to the lower edge. The rear bumper is a standard item with a new design of rear diffuser piece added.

Unusually for the RHT model there is a rear spoiler. Sadly none of these parts are readily available and as far as I know didn't go to full production. Again this is a shame as there are limited options for RHT rear spoilers and this one looks really good. Vented front wings, brakes by Endless, and 18" Yokohama Kreutzer Series Xi ten spoke alloys in bright-chrome finish off the exterior look.

The interior's main feature was the Mazdaspeed branded seats by Mu-Len, featuring the 3D Net fabric for improved support and comfort.  This is the same "style-m"design as previously seen in the M'z Tune version, but now a fairly garish white and blue colour scheme.  There were also white door panel and steering wheel trims, and a white carbon effect dash trim panel to finish off the interior design.
