Phil's Brilliant Black NC

Phil's car is a 2.0 Sport model in Brilliant Black featuring some very subtle customisation to enhance the car's handling and looks. The first thing on the list was to sort out the suspension and wheel alignment. A set of adjustable Meister-R coilovers were ordered and they were fitted along with an alignment setup at Roddison's garage in Sheffield. With the ride height and handling sorted, Phil turned his attention to the exterior looks.

The car was taken to see Dave at Deepcar Autobodies to have the 10-spoke alloys painted a shade of anthracite, the front bumper had it's number plate mounting holes filled in and smoothed over, the roll bar trims were painted anthracite, a chrome fuel filler lid was replaced with an original black version, and the exterior badges and hardtop rear deck parts were painted black for a very tidy overall look. The rear lights were tinted red with a sheet of Lamin-X tint film, this effect tones down the chrome colour in the standard lights and gives a smart simple look to the rear of the car.

The headlights were modified with the orange indicator lens piece removed and the silver trim bezel painted the same anthracite as the wheels. The soft top's rear window was tinted to around 30%. Phil took care of the underside of the car with a comprehensive clean and then coated with POR15 paint as a rust preventative measure. The cavities were sprayed with Bilt Hamber dynax S50 wax.
