Ghost In The Shell: Arise is a four part feature length animated series exploring the origins of Major Kusanagi and Public Security Section 9. It's a prequel reimagining of Masamune Shirow's original Ghost In The Shell universe featuring new character designs from the previous two movies and TV series. Arise is animated by famous studio Production IG who were also responsible for the original movie in 1995. If you've never heard of Ghost In The Shell (where have you been??!) I'd recommend you start with the first movie and the sequel "Innocence", then there are two series of the TV show "Stand Alone Complex" and a feature length episode called "Solid State Society". The quality of the animation in Arise is fantastic and it looks amazing on Blu-Ray. You can see more on the website here.
