Andrew's Galaxy Grey NC

Andrew's MX-5 is a 2005 2.0 Sport model in Galaxy Grey Mica, fitted with a black detachable hardtop giving a contrasting look. The car was purchased in November 2010 and has had several upgrades since then. First up was a 6CD changer module for the oem stereo, a DC Sports stainless exhaust muffler, and a customised instrument cowl finished in black flock. The interior also benefits from piano black trim pieces, flocked door handles, a factory option illuminated gearknob, and the RX-8 wiper control stalk which is a direct replacement and allows control over the intermittent wiper speed. The car also has the RX-8 horn fitted which gives a more powerful tone than the MX-5 version.

Andrew imported a set of 17" Enkei RPF1 alloy wheels from the USA, these are the same wheels as seen on the Super20 concept at the SEMA show. The wheel size is 17x8 with ET45, a wider than stock wheel with a lower offset means they sit a little further out in the wheel arch. They are paired with Toyo T1-R tyres in size 215/45/17. They really suit the NC and were a great choice. With the wheels sorted, the car was taken to Roddison's garage in Sheffield to have a set of Meister-R adjustable coilovers fitted and the wheel alignment adjusted. To further improve handling, RX-8 anti-roll bars were fitted along with new droplinks.

In June 2013, after collecting numerous genuine Mazda bodykit parts, Andrew took the car to see Dave at Deepcar Autobodies in Sheffield to have a bit of a makeover. The car was fitted with the full factory appearance pack consisting of front and rear spoilers, bootlid lip spoiler, and sideskirts. The front bumper was smoothed with the badge removed, the windscreen surround was given a coat of black to match the hardtop, and the rear lights were given a subtle tint for a darker look. This combination of well chosen modifications gives the car a real understated yet purposeful look.
